24 September 2008 To: Jodi Phillips & the Rivermoore Park Board RE: UPCOMING INSTALLATIONS AND THE WATERING RESTRICTIONS Hello All: We wanted to take this opportunity to go over a few issues with all of you before the upcoming aeration/overseeding and fall flower installation take place.
First,
please note the following link to the Gwinnett County Water Resources Water
Restrictions Information page: On this page you will find a list of FAQ’s that should answer any questions that you may have about the watering. We would like to point out one item that they do talk about in terms of the water used (please note the following excerpt from the FAQ page): Note: If an entity or person withdraws over 100,000 gallons of water a day, they are required to get a water withdrawal permit from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division It is important to understand why we bring this to your attention. Your Irrigation system at Rivermoore has 110 different zones. This means that when we do an Irrigation check on the system for problems or when we do aeration and overseeding, all the zones will need to be “run through.” When you do a complete system run through, the Irrigation system uses anywhere from 70,000 up to 100,000 gallons per cycle. This was what we explained to you last year when Gwinnett County was talking about “your usage was too high” it was not because we were watering when the ban was in effect, it was because they saw how many gallons were being used and with all of the people in the subdivision who were calling in and complaining to them, they decided to put a lock on the boxes. Just so we all are clear, we are within our rights to water and Irrigate because we are a professional Landscape/Irrigation company. When we do the flower installation, we do not need to utilize all of the Irrigation zones. We clearly understand what our “rights” are under the Gwinnett County Water Restriction Guide. Unfortunately, there may be some homeowners in Rivermoore who do not. We respectfully request that information be provided to the residents in Rivermoore either via your website or a neighborhood newsletter advising them that the watering will be starting upon aeration/overseeding, flower installation, and chemical applications on the turf. We can tell you that if Gwinnett County gets inundated with phone calls from the residents at Rivermoore, there is a good possibility that they will lock the boxes again. It is our hope that if everyone becomes familiar with what the water restrictions/guidelines truly are, that we can do our jobs without the interference of people who haven’t taken the time to do the research. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us. Thank you for your assistance. Best Regards, FIELDS OF GREEN, INC.
